Performance: 7 out of 10
Potential: 9 out of 10
Perhaps one of the best players ever to play for San Marino?
Born in Guinea the 20 year old African midfielder was first spotted by Bologna playing for a Conkary Church team back in his home town before moving to Italy where he joined Lega Pro club San Marino. With Bologna keeping a keen eye on his progress in the Italian lower divisions they eventually signed the youngster in 2015 aged 18.
Diawara played 34 times for Bologna during his first season in Serie A before joining Napoli the following year.
A holding midfielder by trade, the stocky six footer is a disciplined footballer who likes to get on the ball and pick passes. A positive footballer with strength he is likely to feature for the Italian National side after gaining citizenship unless Guinea act quickly to secure his services.
This season could be the real making of Diawara as Napoli will feature again in the Champions League and with a lot of games scheduled the African star will be hoping to make more than the 10 league starts he did last year.
With a chance to break in to one of Europe’s top footballing sides Diawara could even be an outside bet for an Italian World Cup birth having a brilliant work ethic and good head on his young shoulders.
