Performance: 6 out of 10
Potential: 7 out of 10
Not many Greek internationals have been born in Blackburn but Anastasios Donis is the son of former Rovers winger Giorgos Donis who also had spells at Sheffield United and Huddersfield in England.
In fact the football relations don’t end there with brother Christos currently at Panathinaikos. Anastasios recently made his debut for Greece following in his father’s footsteps and looks to be very much carved in a similar fashion to dad.
Lean, quick, skilful the wide man is technically very good and provides an outlet that can hold the ball up as well as turn defence in to attack with his running ability. A player who signed for Juventus youth team from Panathinaikos aged 16 he never made an appearance for the Old Lady but was loaned out to Lugano and Nice where he impressed before moving to Stuttgart in the summer for over €4m.
His form at Nice during the back end of last season impressed Stuttgart enough to take a chance, the Bundesliga might be a trickier nut to crack but he certainly has an eye for goal and can be lethal if he gets the chance in the opposition box. In a transfer market littered with million pound notes Donis could yet become one of the best bit of businesses of the summer should he get the opportunity and continue to improve in one of the worlds toughest leagues.
