Performance: 7 out of 10
Potential: 8 out of 10
Officially on loan from Atalanta with an option for Inter to buy the tall midfielder in 2018. The 6ft3in 23 year old has already won his first international cap for Italy and looks to be a promising star reminiscent in size and stature of the great Nicola Berti.
Naturally a holding midfielder but one who can get forward too, Gagliardini is a player who keeps things simple and is good in possession with a range of passing who anticipates the next step both in attack and defence. His size and power often helping when dispossessing opposition and his strength and workrate a top asset whilst supplying the talented Uruguayan Matias Vecino and experienced Italian Antonio Candreva with passes in the middle of the park.
Gagliardini made his debut for Atalanta aged 19 and had loan spells at Cesena, Spezia and Vicenzia before joining Inter in January 2017. The Bergamo born star has since played over 20 games for Nerazzurri and started his first game for his new Coach Luciano Spalletti in the win at Roma where he impressed with a display beyond his years.
With a fashionable era of tall combative midfielders like Busquets, Matic, Pogba, Rabiot, Goretzka to name a few. Italy may have their own version of 6ft plus holding man that can mix it with the best.
