Club: Paris Saint-Germain
Watched: : Guingamp 0-3 Paris Saint-Germain (Sunday 13th August 2017)
Performance: 7 out of 10
Potential: 9 out of 10
A tall leggy defensive midfielder who I have been keeping an eye on since 2016 when he made his France debut against Cote d’Ivoire. Rabiot has progressed into not only a PSG regular in centre midfield but also in the French National team squad with some accomplished & intelligent displays beyond his young years.
Sitting in front of the back four and to the left of Thiago Motta and Marco Verratti, Rabiot is a Managers dream and does the simple things in the simplest ways. Not afraid to go back or sideways he keeps possession in a similar way to how Sergio Busquets has done for many seasons at Barcelona.
Already cementing a spot in the star studded Paris Saint-Germain team perhaps the biggest testament to how Adrien has done is that the gifted Blaise Matuidi cannot get into the team ahead of him.
Having already played at every level from U16’s upwards for France and having played more than 100 games for PSG at such a young age, the potential for this increasingly important cog in midfield could be the world as he helps shield the attacking qualities of Neymar, Cavani and co doing the ugly stuff consistently whilst they look to take the headlines.
Unassuming he may be due to the simplicity he provides but by breaking up play and giving the ball to those who can create ensures Rabiot has a huge future at a club that has huge potential under their Qatari owners.
