The Scout: Tom Davies

Age: 19

Position: Midfield

Club: Everton

Country: England

Watched: : Ruzomberok 0-1 Everton (Thursday 3 August 2017)

Performance: 7 out of 10

Potential: 8 out of 10

When I first watched Tom play against Manchester City I asked “Why is Scot Gemmill still in the Everton midfield”. Knowing nothing about him or where he was from I took an instant shine to his scruffy posture and positive play.

He looked like he’d been playing first team football for years, not making only his third Premier League start as an 18 year old. And when he finished a move he started by dinking the ball in a way I remember Gemmill himself doing on a couple of occasions I knew this boy had something special.

That day he was man of the match and Everton beat City featuring some proven world class stars 4-0. Davies has been a regular fixture ever since and an Evertonian born and bred, one of their own could be at the club a very long time.

He looks like he needs to beef up, but his intelligence for one so young, his awareness, his willingness to work hard and get stuck in will no doubt ensure he becomes a club favourite. An industrious midfielder, has already filled in at right-back proving he’s the sort of player any Manager can trust.

I hope in ten years plus we’ll be talking about one of the Everton greats.
